The Feral Caregiver Raccoon Decisions

The Feral Truth:

You are so fucking tired of deciding.

Not just big decisions.

Every decision.

What to eat.

When to give meds.

Whether something is serious or not.

Whether to call.

Whether to wait.

Whether you’re overreacting.

It never stops.

And none of it feels low-stakes.

Because even the “small” decisions don’t feel small anymore.

Everything feels like it could matter.

Everything feels like it could go wrong.

So your brain stays in overdrive.

Running scenarios.

Replaying conversations.

Second-guessing everything.

Even after you’ve already decided.

That’s the part that breaks you.

There’s no relief after the decision.

Just a new thought:

What if I made the wrong call?

And now you’re carrying that too.

People think caregiving is physical.

And yeah—there’s that.

But the mental load?

That’s the part that grinds you down.

The constant need to:

assess

choose

act

Without ever feeling fully confident.

Without ever getting a real break from thinking.

So by the end of the day?

You don’t even want to decide what to eat.

Or what to watch.

Or what to do next.

Because your brain is done.

Completely done.

And still…

you have to keep going.

That’s the Feral Truth.

Yours in chaos,

~Kari, The Feral Caregiver
